Junior Festival Concert Information

The 2019 Southeastern Junior District Music Festival will be held at Attleboro

High School.  This is all of the information that you will need for the weekend. There will not be an additional mailing. If directors* have any special questions, please call us at the school at 508-222-5150 ext. 1181 or e-mail:

*Parents and students must direct questions and problems to their own music teachers at their own schools.

Registration

Registration will take place on Friday, March 6 from 8:00 to 8:45 AM in the Auditorium Lobby.  Please don’t come early. This is the entrance by the Superintendent’s office. Busses should drop off students at the door and go to the parking lot. Directors only at the registration table!  Students will go directly to their rehearsal sites.  Managers will take attendance at all rehearsals. Remember: attendance is required at all rehearsals. Students may not arrive late or leave early.

Parents cannot be given the responsibility of registering students unless a letter is signed by the school principal.  The principal must understand that he/she is signing a letter indicating that the parent is responsible for the student(s) and that the parent will remain at all rehearsals. You cannot just “drop them off” at the rehearsal and leave them. Attleboro High School will not accept unsupervised students.

Directions to Attleboro High School

Rt. 95 to Exit 3 rte.123 off Rt. 95, head east on Rt. 123

– Take first left at the Shell Station (Lathrop Drive)

– Follow Lathrop Drive for 8/10ths of a mile

– Turn right onto Rome Boulevard and proceed

– Rome Boulevard becomes Rathbun Willard Drive

– Attleboro High School is on the right

Bus Driver Information

All out of town buses should park at Highland Country Club.

Non-Bus Transportation may park in Rathbun Willard Dr pool lot, along fence on Drummond St, Bushey St lot or on Rathbun Willard Dr (as signs allow)

Nurse

There will be NO nurse on site.

Student Preparation

Learn your music!  The more prepared you are, the better your festival experience will be!  Get help from your director and private teacher.

What Should Students Bring With Them?

  • Music, instrument and a pencil.  
  • Brass players need their mutes, valve oil, etc…
  • Saxes & clarinets bring extra reeds.
  • Percussionists bring a snare drum & sticks/mallets.  
  • Money for snacks, T-shirt and concert tickets
  • **Band / Orchestra students must bring a folding music stand** (WRITE YOUR NAME & SCHOOL ON YOUR STAND.)
  • DO NOT LEAVE VALUABLES UNATTENDED!!

Attleboro High School is not responsible for lost or stolen items!

Student Behavior

No smoking, drugs, alcohol, foul language or disrespectful behavior will be tolerated. Attleboro High School Dress Code prohibits the wearing of hats in the building during the school day. The use of cell phones by students during the day is also prohibited. Students are to remain at their rehearsal at all times. Wandering throughout the building is not permitted. Take care of your belongings. We cannot be responsible for your personal items!

Meals

Friday and Saturday lunches are provided at no cost for all participating students, chaperones and festival officials.  Directors are asked to turn in requests for vegetarian meals by February 11.  (Requests submitted after the 11th might not be filled.)

REHEARSAL  BREAKS

Will be announced at the individual rehearsals each day.  

  • The following items will be available for purchase:   
    • Snacks, Soda, Juice and Water.  
    • Festival T-shirts will also be available for $15.00  (Cash or Money Order only please – payable to: Attleboro  Music Parents Association)

SOUTHEASTERN  DISTRICT BUSINESS  MEETING

  • Friday at 3:00 P.M. in the Mini Auditorium by the Principal’s Office. Please follow signs throughout the building
  • (Executive board will meet at 2:00 P.M.)

CONCERT INFORMATION

There will be two concerts again this year, which will be held in the Robert H. Bray Auditorium on Saturday March 9, 2018. (Snow Date March 10)  Each concert will have a separate ticket. Parents who have students in both concerts will not have to purchase tickets for both.

Concert A

Jazz Ensemble, Treble Chorus and Mixed Chorus

1:00pm

Doors will open at 12:30pm.  Please do not arrive at the school before 12:00pm.

Concert B

Orchestra and Concert Band

3:00pm

Doors will open approximately 2:30pm.

**Parents should plan on meeting their children outside following the concert.**   

Concert  Tickets

Concert tickets are $10.00.  Our auditorium seats about 1,200 people.

Tickets will be sold at the rehearsal breaks on Friday and at the door on Saturday.  Tickets will not be held at the door.

CHECKS  MADE PAYABLE  TO: Southeastern District, MMEA

Recordings

A free digital recording of the concert will be available for download from the district website (for personal use only). www.semmea.org  No other video or audio recording will be allowed due to fire regulations. For the comfort and enjoyment of all audience members, please do not take flash photography during the performances.
