Major scales are to be played from memory and as indicated below. All scales should be slurred, in eighth notes, at MM quarter note = 120, ascending and descending. The charts below clearly define the major scales and the required octave range.

**String scales should be slurred in eighth note duplets at MM Quarter = 72 without interuption, ascending and descending the range indicated below*(ranges below corrected - 7-4-05)

Chromatic scales, played from memory within the range indicated below, should be slurred in eighth notes ascending and descending at the tempi indicated below (quarter note = one beat). The charts below clearly define the ranges for all chromatic scales and their tempi.

Junior Audition Percussion Requirements

All Junior percussionists will be asked to demonstrate their playing ability on the following percussion instruments (Bass Drum, Cymbals, Triangle and Tambourine) reading a basic 4 measure piece in addition to the required solo on their instrument.
