ANTICIPATED OPENINGS in the SCITUATE (MA) PUBLIC SCHOOLS
1.0 FTE Elementary General Music - Four days in a K-6 school of 450 (Wampatuck Elementary), and one day in a K-6 school of 350 (Hatherly Elementary). Chorus responsibilities are included at the Wampatuck School.
.4 FTE Elementary Instrumental Music in a K-6 school of 450 (Wampatuck Elementary), two days per week (TBD).
.4 FTE Elementary General Music (one year position only) in a K-6 school of 500 (Jenkins Elementary), two days per week (TBD).
The two part time (.4) positions could be combined for a qualified candidate, creating a .8 FTE position for the '09-'10 school year.

Established South Shore choir seeks an experienced director for Fall 2009. Duties include preparing and directing a non-audition choir of all abilities for a minimum of two concerts a year (fall and spring). Ability to recruit and conduct a professional orchestra and soloists essential. Experience must include major choral works. Fund raising and community outreach a plus. New Bedford Public Schools is seeking a full time High School Band Director to join our team of dedicated and enthusiastic music educators. A qualified applicant will: be certified in MA, have experience leading a competition quality and community service oriented marching band, be passionate about teaching and developing student musicians, have the ability to recruit and retain band members and work well with colleagues, staff members and parents.
Other job duties will include directing Concert Band and teaching courses in the History of Popular Music. Other ensembles such as pep-band, winter percussion and pit orchestra for the musicals are part of the position which includes an additional stipend.

Instructor of Marching Band (Stipend Position Only)
Qualifications: Prior teaching experience in the area of contemporary marching techniques and competitive field show design, demonstrated ability to design a competitive field program for marching band, and familiarity with evaluative criteria for competitive marching band. Strong background in drill design and music arranging is recommended. Degree in music is preferred.
Responsibilities include: Designing field show for band and colorguard, Meets with and supervises staff to discuss coordination for program, Instructs students in marching technique and skills and in performance of the designed field show. Supervises and directs students in marching band activities and performances, Attends NESBA meetings

The New Bedford Public Schools is seeking full time Music Teachers to compliment our growing team of arts educators. There are multiple positions available at the elementary level for general music which will include chorus and possibly some instrumental group lessons.
(Middle school positions may become available depending on the budget which will be determined at a later date. Applicants interested in applying for middle school positions are encouraged to send materials and note preference on the cover letter.)
A qualified applicant will: be certified in MA, have strong vocal abilities, knowledge of elementary music education methods, proficiency on accompanying instruments (piano/guitar), knowledge of classical and world music, have the ability to teach beginning group instrumental lessons, be responsive to student diversity, enjoy working in an urban setting and work well with colleagues, administrators and parents.
