Alto Section Leader Needed - Contact Danica A. Buckley at musicdirector@firstparishinbrookline.org Unitarian Universalist church seeking alto section leader (with excellent sight reading ability) for Wednesday night rehearsals (7:30-9pm) and Sunday morning service (9:30-10:30 rehearsal and 11am service). September 9 - June 14 (occasional Wednesdays and Sundays off) Pay is $75/week. Excellent choir, wonderful church members, terrific section leader team, all of whom are very enthusiastic about the music program. Many styles performed: classical choral music, folk, gospel, etc. Everything from Mendelssohn to Sweet Honey in the Rock, with occasional moments of Gershwin and Porter. Solo opportunities, plus opportunities for other gigs. Excellent sight-reading skills necessary! The willingness to work hard, be a team player, be helpful to amateur musicians. A good sense of humor is helpful! Any religious background welcome - you need not be a UU, but you should be comfortable and respectful of those who are. Church is First Parish in Brookline, 382 Walnut Street, Brookline Public Transportation is available, on the D branch of the green line, although some walking is involved. The New Bedford Public Schools is seeking a full time Music Teacher to compliment our growing team of arts educators. This itinerant position is available at the elementary level for general music which will include chorus and possibly some instrumental group lessons. The position is new and will allow for increased music at our schools. A qualified applicant will: be certified in MA, have strong vocal abilities, knowledge of elementary music education methods, proficiency on accompanying instruments (piano/guitar), knowledge of classical and world music, be responsive to student diversity, enjoy working in an urban setting and work well with colleagues, administrators and parents.
